Ferbeck, a groupLTT company specializing in the design and construction of industrial stacks, recently completed a highly complex engineering project for the Shell refinery in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
Working in close collaboration with Worley Ltd., Ferbeck managed the entire project lifecycle: detailed engineering, procurement, and structural prefabrication. The result is an impressive double-walled steel stack standing 99 meters tall, designed to withstand the demanding operational and atmospheric conditions of one of Europe’s largest ports and industrial complexes.
One of the project’s most notable technical features is the stainless-steel inner liner, which is essential for resisting corrosion and ensuring the structure’s longevity against industrial gas emissions. Furthermore, the stack bears the CE mark and strictly complies with rigorous European standards EN 13084 (free-standing chimneys) and EN 1090 (execution of steel structures).
The precision required during prefabrication and the complex logistics involved in transporting and assembling a structure of this size demonstrate Ferbeck’s engineering and logistical capabilities.
This project for Shell in Rotterdam is not merely a feat of structural engineering; it is proof of groupLTT’s ability to act as a trusted partner to major players in the global petrochemical and energy industries, delivering critical infrastructure that meets the highest standards of quality and safety.
