Liz Insight Technologies (LIT) began operations in 2026 with an ambition that goes beyond carrying out advanced inspections: to turn each inspection into a new chapter in the furnace’s technical history. The company aims to convert point-in-time measurements into a continuous information system covering the asset’s life cycle, making it possible to track changes in its condition and support better-informed industrial decisions.
Led by Bruno Sossai, Managing Director, LIT is developing a multimodal inspection model that correlates visual, thermal, endoscopic, geometric and thickness data with operating conditions and the furnace’s history. As an independent technical entity within the groupLTT ecosystem, the company inspects, measures, analyses and recommends, but does not carry out repairs. This separation safeguards the impartiality of the diagnosis while retaining the complementarity of the operational expertise and intervention capabilities available within groupLTT.

groupLTT: Bruno, Liz Insight Technologies does not present itself simply as an inspection company. What purpose defines your operation?
Bruno Sossai: LIT was not created simply to carry out better inspections. It was created to turn inspection into a continuous process for generating information about the furnace’s life cycle. Inspection is the means; the end product is knowledge about the asset.
That is also the basis of our message: “We Don’t Sell Inspections. We Deliver Control.” Control comes from the ability to turn scattered measurements into a technical history that helps the client understand what is happening in the furnace, how its condition is evolving and what decisions should be made.

groupLTT: LIT is part of the groupLTT ecosystem and works in complementarity with Lizmontagens Melting and Services (LMS). How do you ensure the independence of the technical assessment?
Bruno Sossai: The connection to LMS and groupLTT is a major advantage, but it is important to make clear that LIT operates as an independent technical entity. We inspect, measure, analyse and recommend. We do not carry out repairs.
This separation is deliberate. We want the client to know that our assessment is not influenced by the need to sell a particular service or repair afterwards. Naturally, when we identify a need for intervention, groupLTT has extraordinary capabilities to turn the diagnosis into a practical solution. But these are two distinct and complementary functions: LIT provides diagnosis, measurement, data and asset intelligence; LMS and groupLTT add operational expertise and intervention capability. This distinction is essential to LIT’s credibility with the client.
groupLTT: When you speak of a continuous process, what does that mean in practice for furnace management?
Bruno Sossai: The key difference does not lie in a single inspection, but in comparison over time. The first inspection establishes an initial reference, or baseline. When we return to the same furnace six months or a year later, we are no longer simply observing it again; we are comparing data.
We then begin to measure how wear is evolving, thermal changes, the progression of specific anomalies, changes in geometry, the rate of refractory wear and the effectiveness of the actions taken by the client. This is how we build the furnace’s technical history.
Our vision is to monitor the asset throughout the entire campaign, typically with one or two inspections per year, so that every new assessment increases the value of the previous ones. “The first inspection is a snapshot. Every inspection after that creates knowledge.”
groupLTT: To build that history, which technologies do you currently use in the field?
Bruno Sossai: We are building a multimodal inspection model, an inspection framework in which different technologies observe different characteristics of the same asset. Today, we work mainly with visual inspection, thermography, endoscopy and radar thickness measurement.
We are also developing the integration of LiDAR into our model. LiDAR is particularly interesting because it will allow us to create a complete geometric reference of the furnace after construction and subsequently compare how the structure evolves during the campaign.
Our differentiator is not presenting one isolated technology as the solution to everything. Nor is it claiming that the principle behind radar is proprietary. It lies in the application methodology, processing, interpretation and correlation of radar data with all the other information available about the furnace.
groupLTT: Does the real value, then, come from the ability to correlate all that information?
Bruno Sossai: Exactly. Radar on its own is data. A thermal image on its own is data. An endoscopy photograph on its own is data. Value begins to emerge when we can correlate radar, thermography, endoscopy, visual inspection, operating conditions and historical data.
We then need to understand how that combination evolves over time. This is the layer of processing and interpretation that we want to make increasingly robust. LIT’s true product is not a collection of images or measurements; it is the ability to convert different data into a coherent reading of the asset’s condition and evolution.

groupLTT: How does LIT intend to make this technical, comparable history available to the client?
Bruno Sossai: We do not want all this information to end up in a PDF. We are building the architecture so the client can progressively access a digital history of the asset, view previous campaigns, compare results, and track the furnace’s evolution.
At that point, LIT truly stops operating as a traditional inspection company and starts establishing itself as an asset intelligence platform. A report remains useful, but it should be an expression of a broader knowledge system, not the final destination of the data.
groupLTT: As you accumulate measurements across different furnaces, materials and operating conditions, does this also create the opportunity to compare refractory performance?
Bruno Sossai: Yes, and this could become one of the strongest differentiators of our approach. As we accumulate radar measurements from different furnaces, materials, suppliers and operating conditions, we begin to be able to compare refractory behaviour objectively.
In the future, this information will not only support furnace operation. It may also feed back into the engineering and construction phases. What we learn during one campaign can help the client build a better furnace in the next campaign. For me, that closes the loop: Design → Construction → Baseline → Monitoring → Repair Strategy → End of Campaign → Better Next Design.
groupLTT: What role does artificial intelligence play in this evolution?
Bruno Sossai: Our vision is pragmatic: AI is an enabler, not the product. First, we need to create structured, consistent and comparable technical data. Without that foundation, artificial intelligence will be little more than a promise.
We can then use it to accelerate processing, compare images, identify patterns, detect abnormal trends and progressively support predictive modelling. Artificial intelligence is not at the centre of the value proposition. The product remains better information for better industrial decisions.
groupLTT: The glass industry is your starting point. How far can this methodology extend?
Bruno Sossai: We started with glass because that is where we currently have the greatest knowledge, market access and technical capability. It is also a sector in which operational continuity and refractory condition have a very significant impact on the asset’s service life.
However, the technology and methodology were designed for high-value industrial thermal assets. In the medium and long term, our ambition is to take this approach into other critical industries, particularly steel and cement.
groupLTT: What idea would you like a client to retain after learning about Liz Insight Technologies?
Bruno Sossai: That we are not simply building an inspection company. We are building a continuous intelligence system covering the furnace’s life cycle. Every inspection should increase the client’s knowledge, reduce uncertainty and improve the quality of the next decision. That, for us, is the true meaning of delivering control.
